The design challenge

Set the tone without illustrating it

I developed Kavir as a fictional botanical gin built around saffron, dried lime and Damask rose. I wanted those ingredients to set the tone for the label without turning it into an illustration.

The system

One shape, three places

    A quiet border

    I used an eight-point star as a quiet border around the wordmark.

    One saffron star

    The saffron accent picks out the same shape at the foot of the label.

    The pattern climbs the neck
