GONG
Graffiti and Persian calligraphic form
GONG is my art practice: where I explore letter structure at full scale — rhythm, weight, negative space and the way one shape meets another.
Letters at full scale
I combine graffiti with Persian calligraphy and interpret classical poetry, including Rumi and Attar of Nishapur, through contemporary lettering and public art.
Poem texts, sources and translations are added to individual pieces only once they have been checked.
Work
Photographed walls and details. Photos are shown no larger than their original size; select one to enlarge it.
From the wall to the label
Painting develops a sensitivity to silhouettes, letter relationships and the way a composition reads from a distance. That sensitivity carries into the custom product names, packaging graphics and identities in my design work — for example The Squishlist and Terp Krush.
